Paddle Maine Monday: Stockton Springs
July 27, 2020 @ 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM$100
Sea Kayaking – Stockton Springs – Launching from Sandy Point Beach we will paddle to Fort Point State Park. Here we can enjoy a relaxing break on the sandy beach, swim if you are so inclined, and take a walk up to the lighthouse (it is a private residence so we cannot go inside). Built in 1857 it is on the National Register of Historic Places. Just around the corner from Fort Point the unique twisted and rusty coastline of the Stockton region begins. This section of cliff is unique on the Maine Coast. Nowhere else have I experienced such twisted and colorful cliffs. Rusty orange, and yellow mixed with bright green sea lettuce is a feast for the eyes. The rocks twist and turn in some places looking almost serpent like.
Porpoises and cormorants are the most dominate wildlife in this region (other then seagulls).
Your day will begin at 9:00 am with an overview of the route and safety check. From there we will spend the day exploring the unique coastline and sandy beaches.
Sea Kayaks (if needed) and equipment, lunch, made from locally sourced ingredients, and instruction are included. Tandem kayaks are available.
You have two choices for registrations. Save $80.00 by signing up for all eight sessions.
