MaineSong: Songwriting + Paddling
September 13 @ 3:00 PM - September 15 @ 5:00 PM$325
Songs can delight, awaken empathy, celebrate our sense of place, express our individual and collective stories, spark transformation, and offer healing. They are also fun… and a little magic! Join North Star Adventures staff and guest instructor, Sara Trunzo, for a weekend immersion (September 13-15, 2019) into song, nature, community, and our personal journeys on the shores of beautiful Lake Winnecook. Participants will craft, refine, and share their music and lyrics through a variety of solo, collaborative, and group exercises. We will practice critical listening skills, gain proficiency as editors, and hold intentional, non-judgmental space for each other’s creative process. We will both invite inspiration work with us AND challenge ourselves to bring forth authentic voices. Budding, intermediate, and experienced songwriters are welcome. Some level of proficiency with an instrument (bring it along, please) and some comfort with singing will be helpful. If you’d like to begin a songwriting practice for the first time, get your songwriting “unstuck”, add momentum to a creative streak, dedicate a time and space to your songs, or build community with fellow songwriters- this adventure is a great fit for you.
We will stay in a rustic cabin, with its own sandy beach, on Lake Winnecook. There is a kitchen for preparing our community meals made from local ingredients, electricity, a wood stove ,water for showers, and shared accommodations. We will bring in drinking water. All food and paddling equipment will be provided. Participants need to bring their own instrument, sleeping bag, and pillow. A complete clothing list will be sent upon registration.
