Winter Snowshoeing Series: Bald Rock, Camden Hills State Park
February 29 @ 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM$55
Bald Rock, Camden Maine, Intermediate. A moderate 3.4 mile hike. One of my favorite local hikes. This is a relatively short, easy, “bang for your buck” hike. It is a good introduction to snowshoeing on steeper inclines. The trail rises slowly for the first mile as we follow an old carriage road. From there it is .5 to the summit. There are several short steep sections but nothing long and sustained. At the summit you will be greeted with fantastic views of Penobscot Bay. Enjoy a hot beverage, some snacks, and a cup of soup while gazing upon the winter wonderland. There is a three-sided shelter just below the summit where we can relax and enjoy lunch if necessary.
Learn about different styles of snowshoes for a variety of terrain and conditions. Meals will be prepared with local organic ingredients when available. We will accommodate all dietary preferences and restrictions.
