This is the standard refresher course for Wilderness First Responder. SOLO accepts re-certs from other organizations. If you have any questions about your certifying agency please contact me. Wilderness First Aid Afloat (WFAA) contains all the same information included in the SOLO Wilderness First Aid course (Response and Assessment, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Environmental Emergencies, Survival Skills, Soft Tissue Injuries, and Medical Emergencies). It also includes additional topics specifically designed for boaters including: sea sickness, marine bites and stings, injuries that are more common in marine environments, and environment specific rescue scenarios. Wilderness First Aid (WFA) is the most popular course and it creates a solid foundation in the basics of backcountry medical care. It is 16 hours long (two days), and focuses on the basic skills of: Response and Assessment, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Environmental Emergencies, Survival Skills, Soft Tissue Injuries, and Medical Emergencies
Join us for any or all of our winter workshops designed to help you learn what you need to know to become a better wilderness guide. Each workshop will cover a different set of topics that are on the Maine Recreational Guide exam.
During this two day course participants will learn and teach the principles of Leave No Trace. We will discuss the impact of human activity on the ocean and island environments. Each participant will be required to present a short (15-20 minute) class on one of the principles of Leave No Trace. We will camping on and exploring the Islands off the coast of Maine.
