Paddle Maine Monday: Machias
Sea Kayaking -Machias – The farthest north we will travel on our coastal exploration. Jasper beach with it polished stones, and sea cliffs adorned with petroglyphs (if the tide is right) make paddling in this region a unique experience. Beautiful coastal island with their rugged granite ledges are plentiful. This is a less traveled section of the Maine coast and a paddlers dream. Machias is a unique coastal town. Each season it hosts the Machias Wild Blueberry Festival. However, Machias is best known as the site of the first naval battle of the American Revolution.
