Sea Kayaking Skills Series: Session 3
Does navigating on the ocean intimidate you? Are you worried about encountering fog? Gain the knowledge and confidence you need for a safe and fun paddling excursion.
Getting turned around on the ocean is easy, once on the water it is hard to determine one island from the next. Learn how to read navigational charts and use a compass to find your location and plot your course.
The first part of the day will be on land learning how to read a chart and how to use a compass. Once you have an understanding of how a compass works and how to read a chart we will practice using them together.
After lunch we will use our new knowledge to navigate the waters off Mere Point in Brunswick, Maine.
If you have a sea kayak you are welcome to bring it with you.
