Backpacking & Base Camping Expeditions
Are you looking for a more extended backcountry experience? We offer both base camping and backpacking adventures. We supply all group gear, tents, meals, and maps.
Baxter State Park & The 100 mile Wilderness:
The Baxter Region offers a variety of hiking and backpacking opportunities. From the storied 100 Mile Wilderness to the Northern Terminus of the Appalachian Trail located on Mt. Katahdin this region is a destination for hikers and backpackers.
Grafton Notch State Park & The Mahoosuc Public Lands:
One of my favorite hiking and backpacking destinations in Maine. This region, home of some of the most rugged terrain on the Appalachian Trail offers spectacular views and challenging climbs. For those who want a less strenuous adventure there are plenty of waterfalls and gorges to explore.
Bigelow Preserve encompasses the entire Bigelow Range, which includes seven summits. It is a spectacular and strenuous backpacking adventure. If you are looking to challenge yourself this trip is for you! You will be treated with views of Flagstaff Lake, and the surrounding peaks. This is truly a life changing trip, the challenge and beauty make it a trip worth the time and effort.
Mt. Blue State Park and Tumbledown Public Lands:
This is a basecamp trip that may include paddling on Webb Lake as well as hiking Tumbledown Mountain and the surrounding peaks. There are some spectacular loop hikes in the region. While not as challenging as a Bigelow hike the mountains will not disappoint with their rugged landscape and sweeping views.
Caribou Speckled Wilderness:
This is part of the White Mountain National Forest located entirely in Maine. The Caribou Speckled Wilderness boasts emerald green dipping pools, moss covered rocks, and peaks covered in wild Maine blueberries. The highest peak in the Wilderness area is Speckled Mountain at 2,906′. While not significant elevation the peaks in this region are a “bang for your buck” . This is a basecamp adventure. We will spend our days hiking and swimming.
Camden Hills State Park:
Located in the Mid-Coast region Camden Hills State Park is home of some of the most beautiful moderate hiking in the state. Hikes vary in length from two – ten miles. With views of Penobscot Bay, Lake Megunticook, and the Western Mountains you would be hard pressed to find a more diverse hiking location. We will be camping at the State Park and spending the days hiking, swimming, and potentially sea kayaking.
Down East Coastline: Bold Coast & Quoddy Head
Down East is home to Maine’s most spectacular coastline. A backpacking trip on the Bold Coast will leave you in awe. You will hike through blueberry barrens, woodlands, peatlands, and 4.5 miles of coastline with pocket coves and cobble beaches that overlook the Bay of Fundy. A base camp experience will take you to Quoddy Head State Park, and several of the smaller coastal preserves for stunning and dramatic hiking along the Maine Coast.
