Are you pressed for time or just want to have a introduction to sea kayaking? Our three hour, half day excursions may be just what you are looking for.  We will meet you at the boat launch with sea kayaks and paddling gear. After a short introduction to paddling technique and safety we will begin our exploration. Depending on location we may stop on islands, beaches, or the rocky coastline for a snack and water break. We typically launch from the following locations but will happily meet you anywhere in the state. There may be an extra fee for travel if it is more than one hour from our base in Unity.

  • Rockport Harbor
  • Belfast Harbor
  • Sandy Point Beach: Verona Island
  • Saturday Cove & Northport

Full Day and Multi Day Excursions

Located at the eastern end of Eggemoggin Reach the islands surrounding Naskeag point are known for the beautiful sandy beaches and almost tropical blue water. Peppered with lobster buoys we will experience the Maine lobster industry up close and personal.

Machias & Downeast Maine:

The farthest north we will travel on our coastal exploration.  Jasper beach with its polished stones, and sea cliffs adorned with petroglyphs (if the tide is right) make paddling in this region a unique experience. Beautiful coastal islands with their rugged granite ledges and sea caves are plentiful.  This is a less traveled section of the Maine coast and a paddlers dream. Due to travel the fee for this trips is slightly higher

Casco Bay:

Launching from Merepoint in Brunswick we have many options for exploring this section of Casco Bay. Wind and tide will determine our destination. The Goslings, Little Birch, Crow, Little French and Whaleboat Island are all possibilities. Sand beaches on the Goslings and Little Birch allow for swimming and relaxing.

Muscongus Bay:

Known for lobster buoys and public islands Muscongus Bay (Abenaki for fishing place) is a sea kayakers dream. They are diverse, some are wooded, some nothing more than rock outcroppings and some have beautiful sand beaches.  We will explore several islands on our day-long exploration. If you are brave enough to endure the cold water bring your swimsuit and go for a nice refreshing dip.

Penobscot Bay:

Penobscot Bay is considered one of the most scenic bays in Maine. It includes the larger islands of Vinalhaven, North Haven and Islesboro, and hundreds of smaller uninhabited islands, quaint fishing villages, and working harbors.  Incredible panoramic vistas will greet you as you paddle past Camden Hills State Park or Moose Point State Park and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge.

Fort Point:

Launching from Sandy Point Beach we will paddle to Fort Point State Park. Here we can enjoy a relaxing break on the sandy beach, swim, and take a walk up to the lighthouse (it is a private residence so we cannot go inside).  Past the lighthouse the unique twisted and rusty coastline of begins. This section of cliff is unique on the Maine Coast. Nowhere else have I experienced such twisted and colorful cliffs. Rusty orange, and yellow mixed with bright green sea lettuce is a feast for the eyes. The rocks twist and turn in some places looking almost serpent like.
