Intermediate Sea Kayak Skills Training
Are you a Sea Kayaker who wants to up your game or are you dreaming of being a guide one day? This training is designed for intermediate paddlers who do not feel confident with ocean navigation and lack the skills to safely paddle on tidal waters. The first day is all about navigation, managing a tired paddling partner, and learning how to land your kayak in the wind & waves. Day two is all about safety…what gear to use, paddling with a group, how to manage boat traffic, and some simple rescue scenarios.
Day one: Mere Point, Brunswick Maine
Day one will be dedicated to Ocean Navigation. We will review plotting a course and navigation on the water. We will also practice towing techniques and learn how to land with the waves at our back.
Day two: Belfast Maine
We will begin our day with an overview of safety gear, group management on the water, and a discussion about local weather patterns. Paddling out toward Moose Point or we will talk about navigating in boat traffic and practice on water rescue scenarios.
