SOLO Wilderness First Aid Afloat: Maine Island Trail Association
North Star Adventures is partnering with the Maine Island Trail Association to offer two SOLO Wilderness First Aid Afloat classes. The classes will be offered at the MITA headquarters in Portland Maine.

WFAA is a 16 – 20 hour course that creates a solid foundation in the basics of backcountry medical care. The course spans two days and focuses on basic skills necessary for responding to emergencies in the marine environment where help can be hours or days away. We’ll cover response and assessment, survival skills, musculoskeletal injuries, soft tissue injuries, environmental emergencies, and medical emergencies.
This is an incredible course! Not only will you gain the skills you need to care for people remote locations, you will also have a fantastic time learning!

Instructor Nancy Zane has more than 25 years of experience working, teaching, and playing in remote environments with youth and adults. She is the founder of North Star Adventures where she guides private and public expeditions, day trips, and offers SOLO certification in wilderness medicine.
Course includes: Materials for practice scenarios, WFAA book, WFA map, 2 year certification and instruction.
CPR will be offered immediately following class on Saturday. There is an additional 25.00 fee for CPR that will be collected the day of the class.
