The ultimate Wilderness Medical Course! SOLO’s Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is the industry standard for outdoor leaders, camp counselors and directors, guides, and anyone who wants a high level of wilderness medical training for extended backcountry trips.
WFR is a comprehensive and in-depth look at the standards and skills of dealing with: response and assessment, musculoskeletal injuries, environmental emergencies, medical emergencies, leadership skills, long term patient care, evacuation procedures and litter carries, survival skills, soft tissue injuries, and CPR.
This is an incredible course! You will gain the skills you need to care for people in a remote location and have a fantastic time, it is fun and fast moving. There will be a mix of classroom sessions, demonstrations, practice sessions, outdoor scenarios, and both a written and practical exam.
Instructor Nancy Zane has over 25 years of working, teaching, and playing in remote environments. In addition to teaching emergency medicine for SOLO she teaches at the Waldo County Technical Center and is the founder of North Star Adventures.
Course includes: Materials for practice scenarios, WFR book, snacks, hot drinks, 3 year certification and instruction.
The course is a partnership with White Ash Learning Cooperative and will be held in Swanville, Maine.
