Down East is home to Maine’s most spectacular coastline.  A trip to the Bold Coast will leave you in awe. You will hike through blueberry barrens, woodlands, peatlands, and coastline with pocket coves and cobble beaches that overlook the Bay of Fundy. There are many options for day hikes in this region. Quoddy Head State Park, home of the most Easterly lighthouse in the US, is a beautiful hike along the coast and inland bog. The Cutler Coast hike can be a bit longer and takes you along some of the most dramatic coastline in the State of Maine.

Located in the Mid-Coast region Camden Hills State Park is home of some of the most beautiful moderate hiking in the state. Hikes vary in length from two – ten miles. With views of Penobscot Bay, Lake Megunticook, and the Western Mountains you would be hard pressed to find a more diverse hiking location

The park is located a few minutes north of Camden, a quintessential New England town featuring shops that are within walking distance to the working harbor.

One of my favorite hiking and backpacking destinations in Maine. This region, home of some of the most rugged terrain on the Appalachian Trail offers spectacular views and challenging climbs.  For those who want a less strenuous adventure there are plenty of waterfalls and gorges to explore.

Join us for a day hike to Mt. Blue State Park. Home of Tumbledown Mountain and Parkman Mountain. For those who are a bit more adventurous a dip in the alpine lake on Tumbledown will leave you refreshed and invigorated.

Launching from Merepoint in Brunswick we have many options for exploring this section of Casco Bay. Wind and tide will determine our destination. The Goslings, Little Birch, Crow, Little French and Whaleboat Island are all possibilities. Sand beaches on the Goslings and Little Birch allow for swimming and relaxing.

Launching from Sandy Point Beach we will paddle to Fort Point State Park. Here we can enjoy a relaxing break on the sandy beach, swim, and take a walk up to the lighthouse (it is a private residence so we cannot go inside).  Past the lighthouse the unique twisted and rusty coastline of begins. This section of cliff is unique on the Maine Coast. Nowhere else have I experienced such twisted and colorful cliffs. Rusty orange, and yellow mixed with bright green sea lettuce is a feast for the eyes. The rocks twist and turn in some places looking almost serpent like.

Known for lobster buoys and public islands Muscongus Bay (Abenaki for fishing place) is a sea kayakers dream. They are diverse, some are wooded, some nothing more than rock outcroppings and some have beautiful sand beaches.  We will explore several islands on our day-long exploration. If you are brave enough to endure the cold water bring your swimsuit and go for a nice refreshing dip.

Located at the eastern end of Eggemoggin Reach the islands surrounding Naskeag point are known for the beautiful sandy beaches and almost tropical blue water. Peppered with lobster buoys we will experience the Maine lobster industry up close and personal.

Penobscot Bay is considered one of the most scenic bays in Maine. It includes the larger islands of Vinalhaven, North Haven and Islesboro, and hundreds of smaller uninhabited islands, quaint fishing villages, and working harbors.  Incredible panoramic vistas will greet you as you paddle past Camden Hills State Park or Moose Point State Park and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge.
